Diwali 2026: Light, Colour and Handmade Paper Stars

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026 in the UK. Known as the Festival of Lights, it is celebrated in different ways across Hindu, Sikh, Jain and other communities, with family traditions varying by region and household.

For Paper Starlights, the season has a particular resonance. Our lanterns are handcrafted in India through a maker relationship built over nearly three decades. Each star carries the marks of skilled hands: screen-printed colour, tissue inserts and patterns that come alive when illuminated.

Light has meaning—decoration should support it

Diyas and other traditional lights have their own significance. Paper star lanterns are decorative ambient lights, not ritual objects or replacements. Used thoughtfully in windows, hallways or gathering spaces, they can complement the wider glow of the home.

Always keep paper lanterns well away from candles, naked flames and heat sources. Use a compatible electric lighting option as directed.

Choose a palette full of warmth

Gold, red, teal, violet and deep blue all respond beautifully to warm light. The Diwali Lamp Lights – Golden Bundle creates an instant group, while Deco Gold works as a single focal point. For richer colour, try Bohemia Red, Bohemia Teal or Phoenix Azure Blue.

Create a display for gathering

Hang stars at different heights to frame a dining or welcome area without obstructing conversation. A trio usually feels balanced: one patterned gold design, one strong colour and one lighter point of contrast. For a window, choose a shape that reads clearly from outside as well as within.

A decoration with a story beyond one evening

Our paper stars are designed to be enjoyed, folded and brought out again. After the celebrations, colourful designs can move into a bedroom, reading corner or party space. That continuity feels true to our belief that colour and light should create social happiness—not become disposable clutter.
