How to Use Paper Starlights for Retail Displays
Bring your store to life with the warm, glowing magic of Paper Starlights. Whether you're curating a seasonal window, setting up a product launch display, or refreshing your shelves, our handcrafted paper stars are designed to shine in every sense of the word.
Made for independent stores, concept spaces, gift shops, bookstores, florists, and beyond, Paper Starlights are more than just decorative pieces, they’re atmospheric tools. Lightweight, fold-flat, endlessly reusable and visually arresting, they help you turn everyday displays into scenes that stop passers-by in their tracks.
Why Stockists Love Our Stars
Reusable & Flat-Pack
Paper Starlights are built for retail. Each star folds flat for compact storage between seasons, campaigns, or installations. No bulky storage needed, just slip it into its sleeve and reuse it next week, next month, or next year.
Whether you're curating a summer window, a Christmas gift zone, or an autumn tablescape, the same star can be styled again and again in new ways. Your customers won’t know it's been there before but your bottom line will.
Visually Captivating
Our stars are made to glow. Their intricate patterns cast delicate shadows by night, and their sculptural forms catch natural light by day, making them visually impactful around the clock.
Hang them in your windows to create a focal point that stops passers-by in their tracks. Use them in-store to lead the eye to product displays, gifting areas, or seasonal merchandising. They’re a powerful way to tell a visual story, with zero added clutter.
How to Style In-Store
Lighting Options for Retail
USB LED Kit
Plug into power bank or USB port. Ideal for windows without socket access. Use a USB splitter to connect up multiple USB lights.
Existing Pendants
Tie stars over existing pendant light fittings in your shop. We recommend using an LED bulb up to 5.5 watts.
Stockist FAQ
Can I leave the stars lit all day?
Yes! Paper Starlights are designed for safe indoor use with low-wattage LED bulbs (max 40W). These bulbs stay cool to the touch, even after several hours of use, making them perfect for shop windows that remain lit during opening hours, or into the evening for passing foot traffic.
Quick Tips:
- Consider adding a timer switch if your lights are on after hours
- Stars placed near the front of the glass may be dimmed in direct sunlight, test position for max visibility
- We recommend checking lighting setup from outside your store after dusk. It’s the best way to see how your display glows.
How do I hang them safely?
Paper Starlights are easy to hang, they’re incredibly lightweight and don’t require any heavy-duty rigging. Most of our stockists hang stars from:
- Suspended rods in windows
- Ceiling tiles or beams using fishing wire
- Display fittings with S-hooks, clips, or clear thread
They also work well with spider pendant fittings or long-drop festoon cables for permanent store installs.
Can I sell them in-store too?
Yes — and it boosts your display impact.
Many stockists use a “live demo” star as the centrepiece of their display, then merchandise packaged stars beside it to encourage purchase. This helps customers understand the product’s function and feel confident about setup.
Great for Christmas, weddings, or homeware add-ons — especially when paired with a lighting kit or fairy lights.
What sizes are best for shop windows?
We recommend mixing sizes for visual depth.
For shopfronts, our most popular display combos are:
- 45cm Stars: Great for closer to the glass
- 60cm Stars: Best for main part of the display
- 87cm Stars: Ideal for bold focal points or back of display
Odd-numbered groupings (3–5–7) create balance and visual rhythm
Display Styling Tip:
Hang stars at staggered heights for added movement and dimension.
