A Little Christmas Magic at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh

We’ve been thinking a lot about Christmas 2025 lately.

About the lights, the atmosphere, and the feeling of standing somewhere that just felt… different.

Last December, Paper Starlights had the chance to fill Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh with our illuminated stars, right in the middle of the city’s festive season, and it’s something we won’t forget any time soon.

A Softer Side of Christmas in Edinburgh

Edinburgh at Christmas is known for its energy, the markets, the lights, the movement through the streets.

But inside Dynamic Earth, things felt calmer.

Our paper stars created a more gentle kind of festive light display. Nothing too bright or overwhelming, just a soft glow that seemed to slow people down. You could see it happening: people pausing, looking up, taking it in.

Some stayed for a while. Others passed through quietly. But there was always that same sense of stillness.

The Moments That Matter

What stayed with us weren’t the big, obvious moments, it was the quieter ones.

A couple standing together under one of the larger stars.
Someone lifting their phone for a photo, then lowering it again.
Families wandering through, a little slower than before.

Those small moments felt like the heart of the experience and a reminder of what makes Christmas in Edinburgh so special beyond the busy streets.

More Than Just a Christmas Light Display

For us, the stars have never just been about how something looks.

They’re about how a space feels.

Everything we create is rooted in the idea of making meaningful, lasting pieces, something that brings people together, even in a quiet way. That’s always been central to Paper Starlights: creating moments of connection while staying thoughtful about how things are made

Seeing that come to life in a place like Dynamic Earth felt incredibly special.

A Different Kind of Festive Experience

When people search for things to do in Edinburgh at Christmas, it’s often about finding something memorable.

What we loved about this installation was that it offered something a little different.

The stars didn’t demand attention, they simply invited people in.

And maybe that’s why it stayed with people.

Still Thinking About It

Even now, it’s something we keep coming back to.

The conversations.
The atmosphere.
The feeling in the room.

We’re so grateful to everyone who experienced it with us, whether you planned your visit or simply discovered it while exploring Edinburgh during the festive season.

And while the lights at Dynamic Earth have dimmed for now, the memories have stayed with us.

Planning a project?

Whether you're styling a venue, planning a seasonal display, or exploring a custom installation, we’d love to hear from you.
